"The Man with Many
Jobs" |

| Mr.
D.O.G has been a large part in reshaping NW Hip Hop. He is
only one of the few to receive heavy exposure coming from his region. He
has been compared to E-40, Mac Mall, DJ Quik, & Killa Tay. I personally
don't see a connection between all those artist other than West Coast
music, but it's something about this Washington lyricist, that has noses &
ears wide open for his "underwater flow."
Kennel Insight wanted to get the scoop on this NW Hip Hop Guru. So we talked to him and this is what he had say: Q. A lot of people have compared you to E-40, more than anyone else. Were you intentionally trying to sound like him? Was he the artist you looked up to? Is that who you wanted to be like? A. For the records, I want to set this little question that I'm often asked straight. I'm not E-40 & I'm not tryin' to be. For some reason people always have to compare you to someone & 40's not a bad person to be compared to. In fact, I'm happy that people consider me so fluent in this game to say that I'm similar to Charlie Hustle. As far as looking up to him. He was and is one of my favorite artist to listen to. He may have rubbed off a little but not to the extent of cloning his flow. He was way ahead of time with this here and I respect that. Q. You talk about a lot of street topics in your music. It seems that most artist nowadays wants to be or is a thug. Do you live the life you talk about or do you speak on it because that's what is selling? A. Playboy, I'm a real dude. I believe in keeping it real. If you a gangsta, that's your business but don't claim to be a gangsta and do music similar to Vanilla Ice or Will Smith. If you aint, take off the now commercialized "Soldier Rags" & stop screamin' thug & murder. Me, myself, I've put in my hours on the corners and the whole nine. Most of the stuff I speak about is from experience, the rest is from game that was sprinkled on me by homies, relatives, and associates. |

Today in the industry most artist have several aliases. Do you have any and what are they? A. I have quite a few. The most familiar and current ones are Da Aquaman, the NW Ninja, "the man with many jobs", and Big Bucks Bob. Q. Why do they call you the "man with many jobs"? A. Well anybody that knows me, knows I'm a hustler. I'ma put my shoulder to the grindstone everytime. I stay busy. The main reason my dudes call me "TMWMJ" is because I am the CEO of the label, I am an artist, I am the editor of the magazine, I am the management, I am a promoter, I am the director of our videos and the movie, "NW Ridin", I'm an "Independent Label & Artist Counselor", and I dibble in a few other legitimate hustles that are not music related. Q. What accomplishment(s) in your career do you feel help to boost your status to the level that you're on? A. Well the songs with Ras Kass & 40 has gotten me the most props. It gave me a chance to show the world that I can compete with the best of them and hold my own during the battle. Hooking up with Cool Nutz was a definite plus too. |
Q. We know of WET and Ghetto
Politics. Both of those albums were on point. Ghetto Politics showed vast
improvements in your skills as an artist and as a business man. Do you
have any other projects in the making? A. Well so far this has been my busiest year to date. Next month, our first compilation hits stores titled NW Ridin. I appeared on Seattle:the Darkside 2 which dropped in February. I'm on DJ Earthquake's, DJ Supa Sam's, & DJ FunkDaddy's newest mix tapes & CD's. I will also be appearing on the "All or Nothing" Soundtrack, 2 Real Record's Guilty til Proven Innocent, Mac Money's Tales from a G, Big Squeeze's The Senator, and on the Jus Family Savages. I'm also back in the lab, brewing up my next LP, Diabolical Deeds & Street Luv.

If you aint , take off the now commercialized "Soldier Rags" & stop screamin' thug & murder. Q. Is there anyone appearing on Diabolical Deeds or anyone you would like to work with for it? A. Well nothing is final until it is done, but I would like to and am trying to get the Doggpound, the Luniz, Killa Tay, D.B.A., Nate Dogg, Made Figures, and BattleCat on there. I am also trying to see what's up with Tela. Well we just wanted to break the ice with all you don't knows, who aren't familiar with some of the fine artists in the Northwest about Mr. D.O.G.. You can hear learn more about Mr. D.O.G in these following CDs or at www.bwr2000.com. I'm out!
