This here is where we set the game
straight. We tell you like it is. Even if you don't wanna hear it. Cuz if
your music stinks, I wouldn't be your homeboy if I told you it was the
bomb. So here it is.
It's no doubt that this album isn't what everyone thought it was gonna be. With a name like "Best of Both Worlds" and artists like Jay-Z & R.Kelly over slumps by Trackmasters, you expected every song to be a hit in the ride like "Guilty til Proven Innocent" or "Fiesta". And though the album does contain some very bangable hits, there are some questionable tracks as well. "P-U-S-S-Y" has got to be the best song on here. Jay-Z and R. Kelly team up with Devin Dude to explain the power of the Poonahni over a laid back, get yo roll on beat. We all see it happen, but how many people can keep your head bobbin, while translating this very valuable section of the game? "Best of Both Worlds" is a great track, once you get past the tiring repeats of R. Kelly saying the hook. It took several times of listening to the song before it was accepted. (Again, we are talking about Jay-Z & R.Kelly) "Take You Home" is a slump. It will fill the dance floor at the clubs. It's uptempo, and it's what you have come to expect from the dynamic duo. "Shorty" is another track I was diggin. Again, it is what I've come to expect from these two individuals. I can see a video, and the DJs burning this one out at the clubs. "Naked" is the only slow ballad on this joint. It's a nice song but it doesn't measure up to "Honey Love," "Rubbin on Your Booty," "Twelve Play," or "I believe". It serves more or less as a filler song. The beat seemed a little naked too. Hopefully this was intentional to showcase Kelly's tremendous voice. The rest of this Lp didn't float my boat. Maybe it may still need more time to work on me. Maybe it was overrated, and over promoted. Either way, it's still better than the average CD and will get sells. It just isn't either of their best piece of work.
