Best Song: Pimpin on 'em Chickenz

Worst Song: No Choice

If you're from Tacoma and over 24, then you have definitely heard of Slayir the Player. He is one of those unnamed pioneers of hip hop in Tacoma. Although this is his first album, over 10 years ago, Slayir was part of a rap group, CCP, that would travel and perform at all the high school in Tacoma. They were very popular in their home town but didn't capitalize on their exposure by releasing a CD.

Now a decade and some change later, Slayir has emerged by himself with the help of Big Squeeze, who was his producer/dj back then, and put together a nice album. The album feature another pioneer, K-Swiss, who died a little over a year ago, as well as Factor, James Lasiter, and Andrea.

Best song on the album would have to be "Pimpin on 'em Chickenz". Definitely could be a club song. It's up tempo. Factor comes off and Slayir does his thang. This gotta be the one.

"Trading Places" I like this one too. Here, K-Swiss spits some hot ish. Damn! I'm gonna miss hearing his delivery. Like Tupac, he seems to be more visible and busy not that he's gone.

"The Arrival" and "Where Ya Been" caught my attention as well.

"No Choice" got worst song. At least one song on everybody's album has to wear these shoes. I personally wasn't feeling the beat on this one and it made it hard for me to get into the rest of the song.

Slayir still brings an almost old school sound over new age beats. A nice mix if I must say so myself. Of course there are a few fillers on this album but I think his next project will be better. Like anyone else who haven't spit in awhile, he will completely shake any rust he has left and give the people something worth requesting.

I'm feeling you son! Quarter Mill or more on the rise. Cop this album and then email us back and you tell us what you think of this pioneer who has over a decade of rapping under his belt.
