This here is where we set the game
straight. We tell you like it is. Even if you don't wanna hear it. Cuz if
your music stinks, I wouldn't be your homeboy if I told you it was the
bomb. So here it is.
Stylie Ray brings you his testimonies of life. What he has seen and been through from a positive point a view, (or at least that's what he wants to do.) Along side of him, he brought the Eastbay Gangsta, Spice 1, Cindo Reel and many others. However, this Lp is very confusing. After all who is he trying to sell this too? I aint never heard saved folks or spiritual entertainers use vocabulary like FUCK, SHIT, NIGGA, etc. And I especially aint heard no thug ride around with a CD screaming stop slanging drugs, god loves you on every track. In fact, there are so many contradictions on this album it just ruins any chance of you getting into the album. The first track, "Surrender" comes on and the beat is a jazzy tune that will have you relaxing as you listen. Then the vocalist comes in and you feel like your in church grooving to one of the choirs better hymns and then Stylie Ray introduces himself with a lack luster rap that will have you skipping the rest of the song. "Don't Give Up" really confused me. By the title you would be sure that you would hear nothing but positive stuff on how to keep your chin up but instead you get a dose of Christian-thug rap. A few more "Stop selling drugs in the hood nigga, shit!" and "God loves you fucker" later, you are presented with "Soldiers & Hustlas". Definitely the hottest song on this album. Spice 1 delivers a hot verse on this one. It's too bad that his tight delivery may be overshadowed by the fact that Stylie Ray is suppose to be doing positive rap. "7 Figures," "Nuthin but a Hustle" are nice tracks. Nice beat, great singing. Don't just take my word for it though. One man's trash is another man's treasure. So check it out and lets us know what you think. |
